Sport & Media

Danny is a sport media lawyer. He advises rights holders, broadcasters, platforms and clubs across the commercial landscape of sport – including media rights, sponsorship and endorsement, betting rights and data monetisation, technology agreements, live events and venue hire arrangements.

His experience includes advising on the acquisition of media rights to top-tier domestic and European football and rugby competitions and acting for both sponsors and rights holders on high-value partnerships (including front-of-shirt deals). He has also negotiated technology and digital platform agreements across the sports sector, and venue hire and staging agreements for major live events.

Alongside his sport media practice, Danny advises film, TV and digital media businesses on content production, licensing, distribution and broadcast regulatory matters; clients in the gambling sector on commercial contracts; recording artists and their businesses on general commercial matters; and galleries and artists on commercial contracts, including representation agreements. He also regularly advises on data protection issues arising across these sectors.

He spent a decade in-house at BT Sport, NBCUniversal, Paramount and AEG before moving into private practice. He has since advised clients including the Premier League, UEFA, BT and TNT Sports, as well as professional football and rugby clubs and players. His in-house background shapes how he works with his clients: collaborative, practical, commercially minded, and focused on balancing risk management with getting deals done.

Danny read Law and Criminology at the University of Sheffield. He also holds an LLM in International Law from UCL and has written several articles in this area that have been published in academic journals. He is fluent in French.

Danny qualified as a solicitor in 2012.
