Mel Stein

Born on 13-7-45 and educated at Central Foundation Grammar School and King's College, London, Mel was one of the first English solicitors to be regarded as a specialist sports lawyer. He has represented footballers such as Chris Waddle, Paul Gascoigne and Alan Shearer as well as Tottenham Hotspur Football Club. Mel established the Post-Graduate Certificate in Sports Law at King's College in 1995 and still lectures in Sports Law at King's College and as a visiting professor at Coventry University. He remains an examiner on the King's College course. He is the author of some seventeen books and a regular broadcaster on sports related matters on BBC, GMTV, Sky and Radios 4 and 5. Mel joined Clintons in January 2005 as a Consultant, specifically to help develop and enhance the firm's expanding and well regarded sports law practice. Mel represents and advises several Football League Clubs as well as being the legal advisor to the Football Conference.
